Katie serves the south west part of NH, southern VT and north central MA. She accepts insurance, including NH medicaid. All prenatal and postpartum visits are done in the client's own home to allow for ease in caring for and including any older children. Katie incorporates nutrition and herbal support into her practice to help provide a more natural alternative for families.

Katie O'Day is a New Hampshire Certified Midwife, Vermont Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife. Prior to working as a midwife, Katie worked as a Bradley childbirth and lactation educator, and a birth and postpartum doula. She has been advocating for the desires of mothers since for over 16 years. She has had two births of her own, one in the hospital and one at home– both natural births with midwifery care. Her experience with her own births helped solidify the foundation and intention to support families during the transitions that accompany the childbearing years. Katie has attended over 650 births in homes, hospitals and birth centers and has taught over a thousand families. She believes very strongly that childbirth is a unique journey that is best traveled with the support of a strong community and support system. She brings with her, not only her own wisdom, but also the wisdom of her mentors.

Katie’s education began when she attended the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, for her general education. She went on to study with the American Academy of Husband Coached Childbirth to become a certified childbirth and lactation educator. Shortly thereafter, she certified as a birth doula (labor assistant) with the Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators. Katie was also mentored through a pregnancy and birth support business called The Birth Connection in Glendale, CA, which she later purchased and expanded to include a 1500 square foot education facility, retail store and birthing center. Finally discovering her ultimate purpose in midwifery, she enrolled in Ancient Arts Midwifery Institute and later in National Midwifery Institute in Bristol, VT, to complete a total of seven years of midwifery education, including her degree in Midwifery. During this time she studied with midwives who attended women in homes, birth centers and hospitals and had the unique opportunity to work alongside Dr. Stuart J. Fischbein, ObGyn, a prominent doctor who attends home and birth center births.

Katie is a Certified Professional Midwife with the North American Registry of Midwives and previously worked as a licensed midwife in the state of California before moving to New Hampshire to work as a homebirth based New Hampshire Certified Midwife. She continues to recertify to keep her CPR and neonatal resuscitation skills current. She has also received supplemental education in VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) support, counseling for abuse survivors in the childbearing cycle, aromatherapy, herbology, phlebotomy, venipuncture and suturing.

Having received the majority of her training in the urban metropolis of Los Angeles, Katie has a wide range of experience serving mothers from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. She believes her job is one of assisting women in developing their own inner trust and connection with their bodies and their babies during the unique journey into motherhood, which she accomplishes with a sense of calm and grace. She truly believes the most important thing she has learned in her experience with birth is that every birth is as different and unique as the women who are laboring.
