Surgical Knot-Tying and Suturing for Midwives

  • East Boothbay, ME (map)

This didactic and skills workshop taught by Nell Tharpe MS CNM FACNM brings recommendations for evidence-based practice to the table so that midwives can improve their understanding of wound closure and build on their core suturing skills and perform these aspects of care more efficiently, effectively, and with greater confidence. This workshop is for those who have core suturing and knot-tying skills.

The surgical knot-tying and suturing workshop includes key information about suture materials, surgical knots, and suturing techniques. Mentored simulation using suture with foam and fabric models is used to assess and refine each participant’s understanding of technical skills during knot-tying, selection of suture material, handling of suturing instruments, and application of suturing techniques.
