A Joyful Cry - NRP with Nell Tharpe

  • 15 Tharpe Lane, East Boothbay, ME 04544 (map)

This workshop is designed for midwives practicing in the home or birth center setting. Included are NRP skills, the role of EMS, transport, and other topics related to ensuring access and continued care for newborns with challenges during the first hours after birth.

Nell has been a Certified Nurse-Midwife since completing the program at State University of New York in 1986. She was in practice for nearly two decades before she received her Master of Science degree in Midwifery in 2003 from Philadelphia University.

Nell’s passion is bridging the gap between practice and theory. Her focus is ensuring women have access to the benefits of high quality midwifery care in every birth setting and across the continuum of perinatal and women’s health services.

Nell is the original author of Clinical Practice Guidelines for Midwifery and Women’s Health, now in it’s 5th edition.

What does she love about teaching? "I love the amazing midwives who come to my programs! I love to see then think through complex problems and grow through our engagement. The curiosity and commitment to quality care for women, babies and families never ceases to amaze me!"
