Christine McGraw, NHCM, CPM
I graduated from Birthwise Midwifery School, a MEAC accredited
direct-entry midwifery school. I am certified nationally as a CPM (Certified
Professional Midwife) for which I sat for an 8 hour exam and licensed in the
state of NH as an NHCM (New Hampshire Certified Midwife). I feel very fortunate
to live and practice in the "Live Free or Die"" state... Our state
government has recognized that homebirth midwifery is an integral part of our
history and culture and has passed laws to enable midwives to practice as independent
care-givers of moms and newborns. I have trained as a lactation counselor as
well, and before entering school was active in our local WIC program, providing
in-home breastfeeding support to moms and developing classes and handouts for
women prenatally. I am active in promoting the education of direct-entry midwives
and currently serve on the Board of Directors of Birthwise Midwifery School as
Vice-President.
More personally, I am the mother of 4 children... 3 of whom were
born at home. I know firsthand the transformative powers of a natural homebirth.
My fervent wish is for every mom to have access to the birth attendant of HER
choice, to feel cherished as she works to birth her baby and to experience fully
the gentle entry of her baby into the world.
