The
Birth Cottage is a freestanding birth center in Milford, NH. The facility,
located at 4 Prospect Street just off Route 101 and Route 13, is a free standing
building dedicated totally to caring for women of all ages and at all times in
their lives. We now offer full scope midwifery care for prenatal, birth,
and postpartum care, and have added well woman care throughout the life span. Our
resident ARNP can prescribe and perform tasks not previously offered to our clients
such as birth control and full gynecological services. Please come and
give us a try! Our insurance billing capabilities have expanded to include
most insurance plans and Medicaid, as well. Call us to learn more!
Our beautiful, warm, feminine decor welcomes families of all ages and for
all reasons. We are now seeing clients prenatally, postpartum, and for well
woman care at the new location as well as in New Ipswich and a new office in
Peterborough. Childbirth classes, seminars, and new groups holding workshops
and meetings are on the Happenings page. Please come to one of our many

The new facility boasts 2 full service birthing
suites complete with private bathrooms and a birth pool in each room. We
will also have laundry facilities, a kitchen, lounge, and a family room.
Our home birth care is also offered. We will have regular prenatal and
postpartum visits in the office for families desiring home birth, with the midwives
traveling to the home at 36 weeks, for the labor and birth, and immediately postpartum
for the first few days. Our portable five foot diameter birthing pool can
be rented for the birth if desired.
We support a woman's choices for her individualized care. There are no routine interventions in pregnancy and birth. We openly support water births, as well as VBAC/ vaginal birth after cesarean. Also offered are childbirth classes including Hypnobirthing classes, prenatal yoga, and prenatal and postpartum massage.

Adrian Feldhusen is a New Hampshire Certified Midwife, a Certified Professional Midwife, and is co-owner of The Birth Cottage birthing center. She has been involved with birthing families since 1992 as a midwife, doula, childbirth educator, victim's advocate, and breastfeeding consultant. She obtained her BS in Community and Human Services, with a concentration in Maternal and Perinatal Health through the State University of New York, graduating with high honors. She has been internationally published several times, and writes for magazines, web sites, and newspapers continually. Currently, Adrian is the secretary for the New Hampshire Midwives Association, and has a seat on the Midwifery Council, a Governor appointed regulatory board in state. Her extensive legislative work helped pave the way for insurance reimbursement in the New Hampshire for out of hospital births. She lives with her husband, James, and 3 children, 2 of whom were born at home.
